Conduct a nationwide early screening outreach campaign to ensure that all children, and in particular children from underserved backgrounds, can get screened for autism.

While more research is needed to improve treatments for autism, we must also make sure that individuals with autism have access to the existing interventions that can make a difference. However, many of these services require high-intensity, one-on-one assistance, which is expensive—and not always covered by schools or insurance.

America needs to invest more in autism research to better understand child brain development and the genetic linkages for autism, create better diagnostic tools, and improve treatments and services for people on the autism spectrum and their families at every stage of life.
